Sorry, it’s the end of the year and you’re going to be bombarded with the ‘top this or that lists’ over the next few days or so. But anyway, far from wanting to buck the trend we thought we’d hop, skip and jump our way straight onto it instead. So here it is, our list of the most popular stories published online by K9 Magazine in 2007. This is not an ‘editor’s pick’ of top stories, these are the most popular stories by page views and visitor numbers. Stay tuned for our K9 Magazine 2007 Awards where we’ll reveal our own pick for top dog story of the year - betcha can’t wait!

1. Headbutting Police Dogs - A PC Step too Far?
   You really couldn’t make it up… a Welsh police force is training its dogs to headbutt criminals rather than bite them, because politically correct - ‘PC’ - bosses are afraid that allowing the dogs to bite criminals will infringe their human rights!
2. Designer Dog Craze ‘Baah-ck’ Fires
   Thousands of wealthy dog owners have had the wool pulled over their eyes when they were conned into buying sheep that they were told were actually miniature Poodles. The women, most of whom were Japanese were conned by an internet scam who preyed on their lack of knowledge about sheep and their desire to have the latest ‘designer pet’. OK, so it was all a big hoax, a popular hoax though.
3. Mamma Mia! World Record Breaking Dog Litter
   WHEN Suzanne Whittingham travelled 3000 miles to find a hot blooded Italian mate for her beloved six year old Spinoni bitch, she didn’t realise their union would be quite so productive. Just two months months later, Mia has given birth to a brood of 17 cute and cuddly pups, which has set a world record for her breed and is more than double the size of the average litter.
4. You Gotta Have Faith - Meet the Two Legged Dog
   How awe inspiring? Meet Faith, a two legged dog who demonstrates just why dogs are the world’s most awesome animals. Faith walks around on two legs and she’s clearly a very happy, content dog who displays that classic canine character trait of ‘not-giving-a-rat’s-backside-about-stuff-despite-what-life-has-dealt-me’. She’s a superstar and she doesn’t even care!
5. Top Dog Names Revealed - List of Most Popular Dog & Cat Names    
   We’re all barking mad when it comes to pet names says leading veterinary charity PDSA. For the second year running in the popular Petsie Index series, PDSA has pawed through around 300,000 pet names to list the PDSA Pet Name Premiership. Although the nation’s overall favourite, Max, is still top dog, the leading veterinary charity has found that more and more of us are going barking mad for celebrity names – everything from Posh and Becks and Beyonce to Missy Elliott and Elvis.
6. The Dog Who Says I Love You     
   The dog who says ‘I Love You’. If only dogs could talk eh? Well, this one can and he says those all important three words that we all wish our own dogs could say…..I want biscuits…..or, something to that effect. It’s a funny dog video and K9Magazine.com is becoming famous for our funny dog videos.
7. Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier type attacks child, lets include articles and pictures of Rottweilers!
   A dog described as an Irish Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross attacked a four year old child in Somerford Christchurch less than a week after the tragic events in Leicester  Thankfully the child is okay but has extensive injuries, what line does the local press take, it prints a three page spread with three seperate pictures of Rottweilers and an article entitled ‘just how safe or suitable are Rottweilers as pets?
8. Dogs Like Eating Underwear, It’s Official
   A US based pet insurer has revealed a startling list of the top 10 items removed from the stomach’s of greedy dogs.
   VPI, the oldest and largest provider of pet health insurance in the US, has reimbursed policyholders for a lot of swallowed socks in its 25 years insuring America’s pets. Just take a look at the top 10.
9. George Galloway on Terriers: He Should Know Better
   As a rule, I happen to quite like George Galloway. He’s an exceptional debater. To get into a discussion with him, you usually need to know your stuff or you will no doubt come off second best. So I was left puzzled by his recent attack on dogs.
10. Pet Food Contamination Kills Ten So Far - Recall To Cost $36 Million      
    North American and Canadian pet owners are packing out malls and supermarkets to seek refunds for a batch of contaminated pet food that was released for sale recently. Other pet owners are queuing up at the vets hoping their dogs and cats aren’t added to the list of 10 pets that have already died.
