It is being touted today that the BBC and Crufts 40+ year relationship is set to end.
The move is rumoured after the KC came under a hailstorm of criticism following the broadcast of the documentary Pedigree Dogs Exposed which prompted the high profile withdrawals from Crufts by the RSPCA, Dogs Trust and NDWA.
The RSPCA has accused the show of promoting dogs with health issues and deformities. An accusation the KC rejects.
The BBC has set up a panel of experts to consult with regarding its future coverage of Crufts but a source is quoted in a national newspaper hinting that the Kennel Club is seriously considering preempting any decision made by the BBC panel and are already in talks with both ITV and Sky.
Any broadcaster who does decide to pick up the rights to broadcast Crufts is certain to come under close scrutiny from animal lovers and the RSPCA.

With the current state of affairs with the KC, would it not be the equivalent of accepting a poisoned chalice for any TV company?
