A 6-day-old New Jersey girl attacked in her cot by the family Husky has died of her injuries.

David Weaver, a prosecutor for Sussex county, said Alexis Hennessy, who was attacked in her home on Saturday afternoon by the family dog. She was rushed to hospital but tragically died a short time after arrival.

No circumstances about what may have stimulated the attack are known at this time but it is known that the infant’s parents were at home at the time of the incident.

Weaver would not discuss the incident at length, but said the girl’s parents, whose names were not disclosed, were home at the time of the attack.

A full autopsy will be done to determine exact cause of death and the dog has been removed from the home until the investigation has been completed.
