Here in Ontario Canada, peace officers (which include police, animal control or deputized bystanders) may enter a building, including a private residence, without a warrant and seize a dog of any breed using whatever force they deem necessary whether the owner is present or not.

The justification is that a peace officers 'has a belief' that a dog is 'menacing' or 'threatening' a domestic animal or human inside the building or has displayed 'menacing' behaviour in the past

'Menacing' is undefined. Great opportunity for nasty neighbours to put people through, eh?

A dog can be seized on the street if a peace officer 'believes' that the dog is a 'pit bull' and that the owner 'may have failed to abide by regulations' at any time. In other words, they don't have to catch you, just have to 'believe' that you may have done something in the past.

It's all part of our wonderful 'pit bull' ban delivered by those madcap 'Liberals'.

Sorry for the late comment, just found out about this great blog yesterday.

This is the one thing that I fear the most. A Bailiff taking my beloved dogs. I think, if I knew there were grounds to suspect this might happen, I'd rather have them put down - but for sure, I'd make sure they'd disappeared well ahead of anybody breaking into my property. Dogs are living beings and no way is it their fault their owner has become a debtor.

This Government has to go.

Are they crazy? These are living creatures not objects!!! Have they stopped to think how this will affect the animal? Some animals only take to a selected few people. What are they gonna do when an animal flips out on them because they took it away from their family? I see a lot of law suits out of this!!! Just try to take one of my kids and see what happens!!!
