Stolen Dog Reunited With Owner thanks to Dog Warden
Salisbury District Council Dog Warden Sam Stuchfield has managed to increase her total of stolen dogs currently recovered in 2008 to three.
The latest dog to be reunited with it’s owner’s by Sam disappeared from a kennels in Norfolk over three weeks ago. Benny the Cocker Spaniel dog was found at the side of a road near Salisbury in Wiltshire last week.
After scanning Benny and finding a microchip Sam contacted the database and discovered that he had been stolen from a kennels near Norwich three weeks earlier!
A phone call to the dog’s relieved owners who had not expected to ever see their dog again reassured them that he was now in safe hands.
‘This shows that microchips do work and it also shows that Dog Wardens do scan dogs to check for a microchip’ added Sam.
Due to the distance between Norwich and Salisbury, a dog handler from the specialist dog company Search & Secure Limited drove Benny home in a dog vehicle on the five hour journey to his relieved owners.
The dog handler reported back to Sam that Benny and his owners all appeared to be equally happy at being reunited with each other once again.
Maybe it’s time that Sam was renamed Pet Detective rather than Dog Warden!
