Barack Obama Loses to John McCain in the Pet Lover’s Election

If the US electorate was made up of just pet owners, Republican candidate John McCain would romp home according to a recent report.

Dogs are a staple fixture in the White House amongst US presidents. An American tradition amongst the leaders of the nation.

Democratic candidate Barack Obama doesn’t have a pet. However, he has made a promise that he will be getting one, win or lose.

“From an image standpoint, nothing humanises a candidate more than seeing him lovingly dote on his pet or toss a ball around on the White House lawn,” claims Lisa Peterson of the American Kennel Club.

A news poll revealed that pet owners favour McCain in a 42 to 37% with dog lovers particularly fond of the Republican.

The survey also uncovered that 47% of whites polled owned a dogs versus just 24% of black dog owners.
