The British Dog Groomers’ Association (BDGA) is delighted today to reveal details of the judges and the seminar programme for its forthcoming British Dog Grooming Championship, which will be held on Sunday 12 October at Sports Connexion, Ryton-in-Dunsmore near Coventry.

The judges for this year’s competition, all prominent experts in their field, have been confirmed as:

Liz Dunhill

A highly renowned breeder of Rottweilers and Japanese Shiba Inus, having won Best In Show at Championship Shows 11 times, and in the Utility Group at Crufts, Liz also runs her own dog grooming and training business. She is an experienced breed-level judge, at Crufts and world-wide, and is permitted to award CC’s for Rottweilers, Shiba Inus, Akitas and Shar-Peis. Liz shares her wealth of knowledge by giving seminars on her breed expertise and show training, and is responsible for the Kennel Club Judges Development Programme for Rottweilers and Shiba Inus. Liz is also the current President of The Japanese Shiba Inu Club of GB.

Angel Marques Penedo

Spanish judge, Angel Marques Penedo, is a renowned breeder of poodles, having bred over 50 European and worldwide champions. He has judged many grooming championships, most notably the World Champion Grooming Competition, where he was the poodle judge. When he is not involved in showing and breeding poodles, Angel still finds the time to indulge his passion for dog grooming.

Suzanne Ruiz

An experienced groomer, Suzanne has owned Dogroom, her successful grooming salon, for 27 years. Winner of Groomer of the Year in 1984, and twice a runner-up, she also won ProGroom in the nineties and has been a City & Guilds grooming examiner. Author of ‘A Dog Owner’s Guide to Grooming Your Dog’, Suzanne continues to run her salon, but also loves spending time at home where she keeps chickens, doves and a Bullmastiff.

Details have also emerged about the popular seminar and demonstration programme taking place on the day.
