Police Shoot Dog Dead After Failing to Stun it With Taser

Submitted by Freelance Writers on June 19, 2008 – 7:11 am3 Comments

A dog has been shot dead on a London street after police attempts to stun it with a taser failed to work.

The police say the dog was a threat to the public.

The dog, believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier type dog, belonged to a 13-year old boy.

The stun gun, which produces 50,000 volts when fired at a suspect failed to bring the dog under control according to police and a decision was made to call in a marksman to shoot the dog dead.

The dog’s owner was arrested under the Dangerous Dogs Act upon suspicion of owning a dangerous out of control dog.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said:

“Police attended an incident involving a dangerous dog on Whitehorse Road, Croydon at 11pm on Tuesday.

“On attendance police tried to detain the animal with two officers suffering from minor injuries due to the dogs aggressiveness.

“Trojan officers attended and shot the animal dead. The officers who suffered minor injuries were seen by the Force Medical Examiner, but did not require hospital treatment. It is believed the dog was a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.”

Another example of the Metropolitan Police’s shoot to kill policy regarding dogs that they cannot control.

Wonder why it got upset after having 50,000 volts put through it?

London truly is a police state now, the Met Police really are a law unto themselves.

Surely instead of arresting a 13 year old kid, they should have arrested the head of this childs household.

‘Trojan’ officers, try ‘muppet’ officers instead.

As the MP seem to deal with almost all dangerous dog incidents in London sometimes with the help of the RSPCA, you would think that they had some police who know how to handle dogs?

Trigger happy cops, maybe they should join the Army and go to fight in Iraq or Afghanistan?
