I’d go one step further on your last sentence by saying – the marketing of dogs is a serious concern.
I’m not bothered if it is designer, purebred or mongrel the ‘marketing’ which now goes with dogs at all levels has reached an extreme way beyond my comfort zone regardless of whether it is the dog being sold to me or a product or service that is dog related.
Most articles written about dogs now appear not to be attempting to inform but attempting to sell a dog, product or service or has a hidden agenda to do so; which doesn’t really improve us as dog owners at all.
(just thought I would stir already ruffled waters)

The article is not an attack on cross breeds. Far from it. It is an attack on cross breeds bred specifically to fit the ‘designer dog’ stereotype. I happen to believe every dog on earth is a ‘pedigree’ dog. Dogs are dogs. They are all of the same species. The marketing of dogs based on a funny name, is a serious concern.

i have to say I agree with oracle.

there are many good hybred breeders, and i dont see you doing an article about how purebreeds from breeders are a scam which (considering theres probably loads of breed/show quality dogs in shelters)it is.

and i dont see any bull terriers “r” here, maby you should do that after all bull terriers were made by crossing terriers and bulldogs, in fact the majority of breeds reconised today were created by crossing other breeds

The majority of people just want a healthy family pet, and most families are now choosing a crossbred or “designer dog”. I think the main reason for this is the increasing number of serious health problems showing up in purebreds, and the failure of national and breed organizations to take any meaningful action to do anything about it.

Every single scientific study that’s been done shows that crossbred dogs live longer and healthier lives than do their purebred counterparts – there’s not a single study that shows the reverse.

Say “Boxer” to a vet and the first thing they think of is heart disease; say “Golden Retriever”, and they think cancer or HD. If dog fanciers are serious about reversing the downward spiral in the demand for purebred dogs, then they need to take immediate action to try and improve the health of their chosen breeds.
