Every day, dog lovers across the country recycle huge numbers of dog food tins – but have you ever wondered what happens to them once they are picked up and delivered to the local recycling facility?
Recycle Week takes place between 21 and 27 June – take a look at their fantastic video that explains exactly what happens to the cans.
Commenting on the animation, Jane Hall said: ‘Millions of people now recycle on a daily basis and we wanted to show them what happens to their recycling so we’ve produced a series of quick fire animations. One of the animations looks at tin cans and we hope it will give dog lovers a good idea of what happens to their dog food tins as well as all the other cans they recycle.’
Recycle Week aims to raise awareness of recycling and reuse and www.recyclenow.com encourages people to waste less in order to reduce the amount of waste which goes to landfill. This year the focus is on small electrical and electronic equipment such as kettles, irons, hairdryers, electronic games, CD players and drills which people do not always realise can be recycled or reused.
Here are some did you knows about recycling:
- The UK recycles over 3 billion cans a year – stacked up, they would reach the moon!
- Recycled cans can come back as new ones in just 6 weeks!
- Steel cans are recycled into cars, bikes, even bridges!
- We now recycle over half of our food and drink cans. Let’s aim for the rest!
