It’s National Donut Day! And Here Are Some Donuts For You

You may or, as is most likely the case, not know but today is National Donut Day. As a result, we thought we’d share some free donuts with you.

Donut number 1)

Lord Baker of Dorking. Or should it be Lord Baker of Donut?
He’s the donut who thought banning Pit bull terriers would be the answer to people being bitten by dogs. Great logic! The Rt honorable donut didn’t try to solve the problems of road traffic accidents by banning Range Rovers but he may as well have. The logic would be equally flawed, deranged and plain doomed to failure.

Donut number 2)

George Galloway.

The cat that got the donut. Mr Galloway is always good for a quote but when he launched into a diatribe last year about needing to ban all terriers and suggesting that all dogs be muzzled in cities he earned himself a place on the complimentary K9 Magazine donut platter. Well done!

Donut number 3)

The ‘DogListener’ Stan Rawlinson. K9 Magazine’s history with this donut is well publicised. We don’t like him, he doesn’t like us. He’s still a donut. Here’s why.

Whilst the UK faces a crisis, trying to educate people about the folly of the dangerous dogs act and the need for proper, well thought out legislation, many professionals put themselves forward to support dogs seized under the act and to offer assistance to owners who have been caught up in this vicious, unfair net. Mr Rawlinson manages to undermine those efforts. He goes out of his way to mention that he acts as an ‘expert witness’ in cases brought under the act in order to boost his ‘credibility’ on web forums. And he then goes on to make public pronouncements like this:

I am also an expert witness in Court Cases involving the Dangerous Dogs Act. If you are not sufficiently qualified or experienced you would be annihilated. I only ever act in cases for the defence never the prosecution.

What he is obviously failing to realise is the enormous damage statements like this do to the credibility of any genuine expert witness acting in a dangerous dogs case. Expert witnesses, as Mr Rawlinson clearly fails to realise, do not ‘act’ for either the prosecution or the defence. They are simply witnesses, called to give an unbiased, honest account in response to questions asked by solicitors representing the defence AND the prosecution. By giving statements suggesting a witness will only ‘act’ for one side or the other undemines the credibility of anyone who is called to give testimony in a dangerous dogs case with a professional background in dogs. It allows prosecution and police to call into question the integrity and indeed unbiased nature of independent witnesses, it damages the reputation of dog qualified witnesses and undermines the efforts of those who do act on behalf of dogs caught up in DDA cases. Well done Stan, you donut!

In fairness to the forum where he posted these remarks, he was banned shortly afterwards for a seperate incident.

It’s the reader’s choice award. Who did we miss in this day of donut celebration?

How much room is on that platter of dounts?

I would like to add every single organisation and individual who claims the DDA is unworkable, draconian and not protecting the public yet REFUSES to call for the removal of section due to political climate, thus allowing, by their own statement, the public to continue to be unprotected.

  2. Amanda says:

or anyone who keeps banging on their is ‘no parliamentary time’ what is it ‘time or climate’ i’m all confused now.

  3. Ricky says:

How about Mr Paul Dunne of Animal Wardens Limited, for services to stray dogs in Hastings?

  4. Real Dog Handler says:

I have watched the TV feed of Ryan O’Meara’s recent appearances, there was also a clip with Lord Baker of Dorking.

He said that the Japanese Tosa is STILL popular in the UK, look at the figures noble Lord, there was only ever one dog in the UK and the owner exported it out of the country because of the Dangerous Dogs Act, so if there is no such breed of dog in the UK, how can it possibly be popular!

Please allow Lord Baker his own plate for doughnuts but also start a campaign for the Dangerous Doughnut Act, there are lots of suspects to add to it, Lord Baker being the first!

    this guy

“my wife and i love our dogs (a black lab and a shih tzu). maybe im overreacting because this just happened but our shih tzu just DESTROYED our brand new coffee table. for the first time in our life we saved up to get nice and matching furniture. this brand new $400 coffee table has been in our home a grand total of 3 days and that little piece of crap just chewed fist sized chunks out of it. how he did this in the time it took to go to diner i will never know. right now i have no problem taking that dog to the pound. he is cute and i know someone would get him in a day. i just cant believe he would do that. he has so many toys to play with. i know money is just money and they are “part of our family”… but where do YOU draw the line? this dog has chewed holes in the carpet in our old apt which just cost me about $400. he has chewed up about $200 of my wifes shoes, and now the coffee table. at some point we cant financially tolerate this behavior. he has obedience training and every advantage in the world. he just does not and will not listen. now queue the part where you all try to tell us how this was our fault as pet lovers are want to do. spare me that and just answer the question about where you draw the line on $ amount of stuff destroyed.”

  6. Andy says:
