Is This The World’s Oldest Dog?
Posted By Freelance Writers Date: 21/05 Posted Under: Dog NewsAn East Midlands man is waiting to find out if his dog is the world’s oldest.
David Richardson of Derbyshire, is waiting for confirmation that his dog, Bella, is officially the oldest canine on the planet.
Mr Richardson says he bought the cross breed from an RSPCA shelter some 26 years ago, saying that the dog was ‘at least three years old’ at the time, which would make Bella at least 29 years old.
Unfortunately the RSPCA does not have records from that time and without paperwork it could be a difficult title claim with regard to the Gunness World Records.
Bella’s proud owner said he had a suspicion she might be the oldest dog in England but was totally surprised to learn she could in fact be the oldest dog in the world.
He claims the secret to her longevity is frequent walks and the occasional sweet to suck on!
According to records, the most recently recorded ‘oldest dog in world’ was a 28-year-old pooch from the USA.
