My heart goes out to Bruce and his owners. This has dragged on too much. I pray to hear good news soon of this beautiful dog who deserves to be with his family.

I contacted North Down Council and they said today that at the hearing yesterday the Judge only heard the evidence from their witnesses and that a further date has to be agreed for further argument in the case.

I have to say, by telling them to amend the act and not repeal it, they seem to be giving the law makers an opening, where by the act will never be repealed, I say get rid of it altogether, because even with the so called index for exempts, there is still no guarantee that the dog will get to live and in most cases they still spend months possibly years in 'police care'

whether its the 1991 DDA or 1997 token effort, its still breed discrimination!

But this is a debate and constructive criticism on my above comment is more that welcome.

My thoughts are with Bruce and his owners and I hope for his safe return home and I hope that one day the law is repealed (completely) and those who have let Bruce get in the state he's in, go to jail for animal neglect!

The UK has had the same laws on DDA but brought in an amendment in 1997 which was the correct thing to do. These laws were written by people not dogs, If a human being attacks someone or uses GBH, we dont automatically kill the rest of the murderers in our prisons, the same should apply for dogs, at least bring in the exemption laws, even though I feel the dogs should be assessed in their home environment and not locked away in kennels. We see what a prison does to the human race but at least they know why they are in there. Please save Bruce, BSL is incorrect, its like racism.
