Submitted by K9 Magazine News Editor on February 23, 2010 – 11:35 amNo Comment

The Wetnose Animal Aid International Organisation is holding the “Wetnose Animal Awards” Ceremony on Wednesday the 3rd March at 3.30pm till 5.30 at the Cholmondeley Room in the House of Lords in London.

Many of these Rescue Centres getting awards have helped sick and abused animals for years, a life time of dedication, one such centre is the Paws Animal Sanctuary in Findon, Sussex run by Stacey McSprite, who has been rescuing small animals for over 30 years.

Many celebrities attending the show include, Ann Widdecombe MP, Nick Knowles, John Altman (Nasty Nick in Eastenders) Nicola Duffett, Lorraine Chase, Jenny Seagrove and DJ David Hamilton, Susan Jameson, Gary Webster, Anthea Turner, Sherrie Hewson (Loose Women) Roger Mugford (Dog Behaviourist) Clarissa Baldwin from Dogs Trust, OK Magazine, WSPA and Network For Animals. The awards will be presented by Wendy Turner Webster with Ingrid Tarrant interviewing celebrities and guests.

The event’s aim is to promote and champion the smaller, less well known rescue organizations, and to say “Thank you” to the people who run them.

With a huge 45% drop in donations last year, many animal charities have struggled with lower financial input, the awards are designed to raise publicity and a small reward by way of a trophy for years of dedicated work to the often less heralded people of the animal welfare world.

There is also a special award for our brave RAF sniffer dogs and handlers too, the 3 dogs and 7 handlers will be presented with a Bravery Cup for their courage and presented by Lord Craig of Radley OBE for helping the Armed Forces when taken to Afghanistan and other places for action.
