Celebrities Influence Canine Mistreatment and Mismanagement by K Clark-Stapleton

Submitted by Jennifer White on January 19, 2010 – 10:49 amNo Comment

OK so its 2010 Hoorah a new decade but with the news that Mrs Beckham had purchased a Bulldog for hubby Dave one can only assume that the PDE word didn’t actually reach the ears of some celebs whose lifestyle encourages doggy ownership as an accessory and not as a family member , of course the dog will be kennelled for most of its life.
The Bulldog has been so mismanaged by breeders in the UK that it has an astounding poor level of health and is likely to live for just a few years , its quality of life will be enjoyed for even less, sadly !

One would have to question the intelligence of someone buying a pet for Christmas let alone one that would be spending a relatively small amount of time with its family/owners due to their jet set lifestyle. Pups need constant stimulation no matter what the breed , they must be trained early in life to avoid the many pitfalls like house training, poor socialisation and lack of bonding. Like the Rooneys who bought a Bichon Frise known for its poor housetraining abilities and then they complain that its taking a dump on the Persian….It really is about time that celebs did some research before making a dog the new wannabe accessory for the Footy fans in the UK.

Don’t they realise that if they cough the whole football support network has a cold, being a dog trainer , owner and breed advisor I would have challenged them on why they really wanted to own such a dog, why they did not think of rescue initially and what quality of life they could offer a dog and not the other way round.

Some breeders really should be vetting owners far more to establish if the dogs they are making huge profits from are going to be happy healthy and fit for life after spending time in a household that lets be honest wont have a speck of dust. Will this celeb doggy follow in the footsteps of Mike Tysons dog, Madonnas dogs and the many others that frequent the Dog Whisperers programme on Nat Geographic.

What puzzles many people is why the breeder contemplated such ownership knowing the canine history of this couple and why were they not questioned further as to the amount of human attention this or any other dog they have would ever receive. Canine ownership carries a huge responsibility , dogs are mans best friend and due to their domesticity require human attention, many dogs that do not receive such interaction end up with a variety of psychological disorders some requiring prozac.
I can just see VB on her hands and knees picking up the latest package left after dinner or is that like most things with celebs left to the minions ?

If Mrs B wanted to do something for Dave she should have adopted or sponsored several dogs in local shelters , by doing that she could have saved several dogs life rather than destroying one, there would have been many others following their actions just like they will now, but for good proactive and responsible canine ownership not poor. Come on celebs get a grip and stop thinking a dog is a handbag!

So how long will it be before Cesar Millan gives them a visit ?
