(Bedlington Pictures and Alternative Bedlingtons) I was shocked that neither report got any comment or feedback from the UK breeders or pet owners. That kind of apathy will get you folks the same problems that we in the USA are now facing from the ANIMAL RIGHTS Groups. These groups have been organizing and chipping away at our legisation, state by state, until we are at risk of losing our rights to even own companion animals or agricultural animals, since one of the ARISTA groups are Vegan. Our breeders kept sitting on their hands and doing nothing or waiting, saying that state doesn't affect me, until the ARISTAS came to their state. Then acting in a reactive manner instead of a proactive manner. Even our American Kennel Club has been remiss in this battle, until recently. Now, ten (10) years into the battle, our animal breeders, farmers and sportsmen are just beginning to fight for their rights and liberties. Now, if we fight hard enough, we may save our wonderful sports and industries. But, how much easier would it have been to be proactive in the beginning and stand up for our rights from the start? The Bateson report will be forgotten not simply because the problem is too big (nothing is too big to sort if those with the most power want to sort it out) but groups like the KC are now so far up the chain they have no idea (or even care?) whats going on at grass root level.
