Police Use Stun Gun to Aprehend Staffordshire Bull Terrier
Posted By Freelance Writers Date: 7/04 Posted Under: Dangerous DogsPolice officers armed with a stun gun tasered a dog after it was reported to have ‘turned on its owner’ in Blackburn, Lancs.
The dog, thought to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, is said to have attacked its 45 year old owner who was out walking it at the time on Sunday.
Ambulance staff arrived at the scene to treat the woman’s injuries but withdrew after the dog attacked them.
A police officer arrived at the scene armed with the taser device and stunned the dog before approaching it and tying it up and taking it to a Lancashire police station.
The dog’s owner was treated for her injuries in hospital for leg wounds. Police or paramedics did not suffer any injuries in the incident.
A Lancashire police spokesman said:
“The dog has now been taken to the police station for further inquiries to be made.
“It is possibly a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which is a lawful breed to have.”
This dog did not have the ‘benefit’ of a shoot to stun policy a few months ago.

So many questions from those short sentences.
Why not call the local dog warden to seize it using grasper poles?, Was this just an opportunity to use a tazer? Then again better a tazer than a 9mm bullet, good job this dog did not live within the area that the Metropolitan Police operates in.
I don’t see anything wrong with using a Taser. Quick, available and effective without any lasting effects on the animals, not even the dog in this case. You can’t always say the same even for a grasper.Sounds like the jobs a good ‘un to me.

No lasting effects of 50,000 volts going through a dog (which even the police would concede is smaller than a human?)

Which would you rather have? A 9mm hollow point from which you definitely won’t walk away, or a very good chance, as in this case, of walking away on a leash after a Taser? I know what I would prefer!
