Dear Perturbed
Which would you rather have? A 9mm hollow point from which you definitely won't walk away, or a very good chance, as in this case, of walking away on a leash after a Taser? I know what I would prefer!

I don’t see anything wrong with using a Taser. Quick, available and effective without any lasting effects on the animals, not even the dog in this case. You can’t always say the same even for a grasper.Sounds like the jobs a good ‘un to me.

Dear Ex Plod

No lasting effects of 50,000 volts going through a dog (which even the police would concede is smaller than a human?)

You seem to like 'tazering' things, is this why your an 'ex plod'?

Why not call the local dog warden to seize it using grasper poles?, Was this just an opportunity to use a tazer? Then again better a tazer than a 9mm bullet, good job this dog did not live within the area that the Metropolitan Police operates in.

From the link

"We only got the dog a few days ago and it had been as good as gold around the house. My girlfriend took her out and I think the dog got confused when she was trying to put a muzzle on it. It went for her legs."

So many questions from those short sentences.
