“Puppy Kicked to Death” Was Not Kicked to Death
An investigation in to the death of a puppy, widely reported to have been kicked to death by a ‘yob’ has concluded that the dog died of a virus and showed no sign of injury. The findings are shocking, not least because the initial vet who examined the animal told the RSPCA that the dog’s condition was consistent with the account given by the puppy’s owners of the attack.
The 10-week old Jack Russell was was being exercised by a 15-year-old girl (its owner) in Priory Park, St Neots.
The incident garnered national media attention and lead to many debates around the UK (and world) but Police have now concluded their investigation after veterinary tests.
A Cambridgeshire Police spokesman said: “A detailed veterinary medical examination revealed that it was most likely to have died suddenly from a virus and showed no sign of injury.
“Despite an intensive and thorough investigation, police have been unable to locate any other witnesses to an alleged incident in which the puppy was reportedly injured.”
No further action will be taken against the owner of the dog.
An RSPCA spokeswoman said the charity had been informed of the ending of the investigation and confirmed that the initial vet who had consulted with the charity had stated the dog’s injuries were ‘consistent’ with the ‘kicked to death’ claim made by the owner.
One would assume that a puppy being kicked to death would show massive internal injuries.
