Well said ! I hope people will take the time to talk to their M.P. about this.I also hope people who are not affected by this law will show compassion to those who are, as every person who owns a dog of whatever breed should be united on this issue.

An excellent verbal presentation speaking up clearly for common sense, for reason, for justice, for dogs (and owners of companion dogs) who have no say in the matter of keeping their pets safe from the perils of ludicrous British 'dangerous' dog legislation that causes the death of innocent canines day in and day out, year after year, since 1991, and costs the taxpayer millions!

I'm sharing the podcast link far & wide because the message needs to be heard!

The parallel world that is drug policy and the correlate to dog policy is profound. I have been making this linkage for 20 years. It is about 'othering' - and reductionism absurdum. The idea that there is a simple solution based on 'just ban it' without thinking through the unintended consequences. Othering is about 'those people' (ie: not us) and the continuing right to hold narrow minded views also known as prejudices. Having attended many dog policy conferences and meetings it becomes striking, they could just as well be talking about drug policy - but that should not really be surprising as the rigour and process of policy development should be consistent and thus arrive at a similar 'ecology of mind'. The problem (and thus impediment) to moving forward is the mix of media and authority who have a vested interest in maintaining the moral panic/folk devil mayhem.

Good on you for connecting the dots.

The more we keep [people and] dogs on short leads and behind high fences the more we generate teh very problem we set out to solve.

(the dissing of Prof. David Nutt may yet be a catalyst to new thinking, your podcast is further evidence and validation that good people are seeing the wood AND the trees)
