Alison, lets hope that there are still some dog wardens employed by councils in 12 months time or the whole skill base for dog handling and enforcement work will be lost when they realise that you do need dog control for the benefit of people and dogs! DEFRA should be renamed the Ministry of Misinformation or the Department For the Eradication of Reasonable Attitudes towards dog control?

‘there is no need for further legislation or registration schemes, but that existing legislation requires vigorous enforcement by the police and they have been ordered to protect the public from dog attacks’.

This sounds like a classic case of "pass the buck" to imply the Police have failed to follow a law and failed to protect the public! Im sure the police officers and others having to apply this law will remember these words!

Wake up Mr Rooker. The law cannot protect the public because it is a flawed piece of legislation. To state "crack down" on "dangerous dogs" is nothing more than words that cannot be properly actioned unless the legislation we have is changed to prevent dangerous owners obtaining a dog of any type BEFORE they get one.

In another 12 months time we will be in exactly the same situation. I only hope that someone doesnt pay the ultimate price of this countries failure to aknowledge a past mistake.

Neil
The Mandarins and their drones at The DEFRA rather remind me of the Imperial General Staff of WW1. To far away from the front line with little or no understanding of what is happening, what is required or what effects their decisions are having. We are just the PBI.
