Tesco Accused of Being Pedigree Chumps as Dog Food Vouchers Used for Booze

Hundreds of shoppers have used dog food vouchers, meant to be redeemed against Pedigree dog food, to cash in on booze, clothes and even TVs in a blunder that is set to cost the supermarket thousands.

Pedigree had offered the vouchers online and the mess up is sure to cause both firms embarrassment.

The coupons, redeemable value of just shy of £7.00, were so lapse, customers found they could redeem them over and over again on any items of their choice.

News of the blunder spread and there was a run on the dodgy dog vouchers at stores in West Bromwich, Willenhall and Dudley, West Midlands.

Claire Hampson, 40, told The Sun newspaper: “I heard it from my neighbour and printed off a few vouchers. The stores were rammed with people buying booze, bed linen, TVs, you name it.

“People were laughing and joking. We thought it was a genuine offer.”

Tesco has launched an inquiry in to the blunder.

Tesco has recently made the news havin been accused of religious discrimination against one of its customers.
