Jacques Chirac Gives Away His ‘Beloved’ Dog
Jacques Chirac, the Former French President has announced that he has given away his beloved dog Sumo, a Maltese, after it attacked him for a third time.
The BBC News has reported that the dog bit him in the stomach in their apartment in the capital, Paris.
The Former President’s wife, Bernadette, said the dog had been treated for depression since finding it hard to settle into it’s new home but it is now enjoying life on a farm in the countryside.
Both Jacques Chirac and Sumo have reportedly found stepping down hard going.
Sumo was used to roaming the large gardens of the Elysee Palace but had to down-size to an apartment and that’s how the severe depression turned the innocent white fluff-ball into an attacker.
In January this year, Mr Chirac went to hospital when Sumo bit him and in this latest attack, Mrs Chirac said that Sumo had been lying quietly at her feet but flew into a violent rage on the approach of her husband and bit him in the stomach.
“I was very scared because there was blood. It’s terrible, the small teeth like that. He was going wild. He wanted to jump up and bite again,” she said.
Mrs Chirac, said the dog never made an attack against her and has said that Sumo is ”very happy” in his new abode.
