Please help! we have just rehomed a rescue dog- a big cocker spaniel about 4-5 years old. we have no idea of his life before we rehomed him. He barks and everything, when the Door bell goes, Phone rings, and most people when we are approached. He also wee's on the floor everytime he is left alone. We take him out before we leave, but he doesn't come outside as though he knows we are going out and he is holding onto it-payback. Also, just recently, when a family member he knew passed his side, he bit their hand and they sustained quite a bad wound. He has done it a couple of times with different people with no reason, out of the blue. We were considering taking him back, but we cant, he is already part of the family. We need advice and Fast!

Many of the problems above are exactly the type of problem I now refer to a Dog Psychologist within my veterinary practice. I use Nikki Brown (AKA Canine Angel) and have witnessed some amazing turn-arounds in behaviour. It is mostly about proper communication and establishing the correct relationship with your dog through some relatively easily-learned techniques alongside spending time to apply them.

All is not necessarily lost ....

I have 2 English Bull Terriers 1 Male "Satan" 1 Female "Pheonix" both of them are 2 years old. They are not related. I dont know where to start on the list of probems I have a cat and they have grown up with him but they just think he's a play toy and constantly chase him the only peace he gets is at night when they are sleeping as I close the room door so they cant get to him. I thought because they were so young 7 weeks and 10 weeks when we got them that they would adjust to the cat and get used to him but no such luck. They are not toilet trained well Phoenix is ok but Satan is a night mare he just pee's whereever he stands. It doesn't matter how many times they are out a day or how long they are out for almost as soon as he comes in he pee's on the floor. Phoenix if she gets shut in a room she rips up the carpets I have went through 2x sets of lino in the kitchen shes ripped the bedroom carpet, the livingroom inside and outside the door trying to get into the livingroom and at the front door. I cant leave anything lying ie food or bottles of juice as they rip up the packets and eat it or spill the juice all over the floor they rake the buckets. They constantly try to get your food when you are eating they are practically on the plate. Now for my biggest problem the aggression. Phoenix is usually fine around other dogs but when we are out walking when she's on the lead nd see's another dog she goes crazy barking and pulling to get to the dog then because she does it Satan starts aswell and im only small and they are very strong dogs it's getting to the stage I dread taking them out I could never let them off the lead cos they just run away they dont come back when I call. Back to the aggression, If there is any sort of food about there is always a fight it's not just a little growl and snap its actually a full blown fight and they are so strong it's hard to seperate them and even when you manage to get the appart they are still trying to get at each other. The fighting never used to be so bad until recently my partner died 5 months ago and it has just spiralled out of control now Phoenix is very very jealous if shes sitting anywhere near me as soon as Satan comes even in the same room she starts to growl at him and as much as I tell her off she still does it and if he comes any closer it ends in a full blown fight again. I dont have children and don't have visitors in the house and so that I don't have anyones safety to worry about if anyone does come up I lock them away. I'd hate them to start fighting and someone to get bitten because of it. I love them to pieces and I wouldn't want them to have to get put down. I've noticed that it's Phoenix who starts most of it and its usually because shes jealous. I want to try my best to sort it as I do love them to bits and i'm just at my wits end and can't handle it anymore. I hope that you can help me do something please thanks Nicole McCreadie
