Hollywood film star Gerard Butler is embroiled in a war of wars over allegations that he struck a dog and yelled: ‘That dog should be put down!’”.

The actor’s own dog, Lolita, got into an altercation with a greyhound called Mayfly, in New York.

The allegation is that Butler’s dog was let of its lead and approached a greyhound owned by Fred Varecka.

Varecka says; “this pug approached us from the right and we pulled our dogs back and we had full control of them. Mayfly got a little closer but he and the pug never came into actual contact and the next thing we knew was Gerard Butler came over shouting: ‘That dog should be put down!’”

Varecka adds that; “[Butler]smacks Mayfly on the head without any warning and my dog crashed into a fence before yelping in pain.”

The actor’s rep claims that Butler’s pug was on a leash and the Greyhound instigated the scrap, suggesting that the actor then had to take his dog to a vet for treatment of her injuries.

Varecka alleges that Butler slammed his dog’s head against a fence and has filed a police report.

“In a matter of seconds he slapped the dogs face, dog went flying up against the fence,” Varecka told ABC news.
