With the chilly weather cooling the mood even further during the post-Christmas slump, a great pick-me-up, that will you warm you from the inside, is volunteering for veterinary charity PDSA!

By donating a little of your time every week – whether it’s a couple of hours, or more if you can, you will help PDSA treat more sick and injured pets by raising much needed funds.

Funds raised in PDSA charity shops and fundraising groups help PDSA provide free treatment to pets in need of vets. PDSA receives no government or lottery funding for its PetAid services. So volunteers play a crucial role in raising the £3.5 million needed every month to provide this service.

In return for lending a ‘paw’, volunteers are rewarded with the satisfaction of helping a charity, learning new skills and making new friends. The experience also looks impressive on CVs!

Head of Volunteering, Janet Compton, says: “If you’ve got the winter blues and want to take up a new hobby that will give you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside, why not take up a volunteer role at PDSA? So, if you love animals and want to help PDSA treat sick and injured pets, please get in touch today.

“Volunteering is lots of fun and is a great way to develop new skills and meet new people. But best of all, by lending a ‘paw’, you will be helping PDSA to look after sick and injured pets.”

Over 4,800 volunteers help in PDSA’s 180 shops, 47 PetAid hospitals and fundraising groups. PDSA volunteer opportunities are available across the UK and are listed on the PDSA website, www.pdsa.org.uk. For more information about becoming a volunteer, please contact PDSA National Volunteering Centre on freephone 0800 854 194.
