Sad, sad news. A dog has lost its life having come into contact with expose live wires in a public street.
According to today’s Sun:
The 12-year-old husky retriever, owned by Keith Baar and his wife Barbara Miltner, was killed as they walked down a road in Dundee.
The incident happened in the city’s Taits Lane – just yards from a primary school.
The couple, who moved from America two years ago with their pet Milou, said the consequences could have been worse if their six-month-old child had been there.
Mr Baar, who works in the molecular physiology division at Dundee University, said he was devastated at the loss of his pet, but the incident on Friday morning may well have saved a human life.
He told a local newspaper: It’s absolutely heartbreaking because Milou meant everything to us.
Ms Miltner said her husband was lucky to escape with his life and demanded an explanation from the authorities.
She said: Whatever it was, gross incompetence or gross negligence, that was an accident waiting to happen and it’s amazing it didn’t kill somebody.
It’s a total and utter failure of the most basic kind of service the city must provide the public with and they clearly knew there was something wrong because of a plastic barrier that has been there for months and months.
