Animal Sanctuary Fire Disaster Appeal

The Alternative Animal Sanctuary is a last-chance home for animals with nowhere else to go. Some arrive in desperately poor condition, after having received serious abuse, others are unwanted and faced destruction, slaughter or abandonment when no other home was available.

On 1st February, the Sanctuary experienced a devastating fire. Sadly 6 dogs, 5 geese, 2 rabbits and 2 chickens lost their lives. All the Sanctuary premises including the 36 stables, barn, house and 2 caravans have burnt to the ground. The animals have lost everything.

We really do need your help at this desperate time. Providing a permanent and caring home to over 130 animals, the Sanctuary is run entirely by volunteers. 99.9% of all donations are used to provide food, shelter, medical care and other essentials. Director, Tamara Lloyd, says “Any donations, no matter how small, that the public can make at this time could not be more vital to the animals. We quite literally are starting from nothing. Whatever you can spare today will truly be one of those donations that really does make a difference. Please, please help the animals.”

Whatever you can spare will all go to the animals’ upkeep and re-build of the Sanctuary. Please make cheques payable to ‘The Alternative Animal Sanctuary’ and post to The Alternative Animal Sanctuary, Doone Brae Farm, Windmill Road, Pepperstock, Luton, Bedfordshire, LU1 4LQ.
