In times of financial belt tightening and against a resurgence of do-it-yourself-everything, more dog owners are enthused by the idea of making their own dog treats. What better way to spend 30 minutes when you’re at a loose end than getting stuck in to a spot of canine cuisine – your dog(s) will surely appreciate the effort you’ve gone to, even if they do down your hard work in just one gulp!

ooooo love it! for the dogs that stay here i make truffles (they look like choc truffles but obviously aren’t) ;)

i start by blending their usual dry food in the blender until its a fine breadcrumb/powder.

then i cook some liver and blend with a raw egg.

i then roll this mixture into balls and roll around in the powdered dry dog food so they look like little truffles.

bake for about 15mins until a bit more firm.

if im being especially nice (or bored) i wrap the treats into a cellophane bag with a bow to give to people.

silly i know, but the clients love it!
