Is it Time For Tougher Sentences for Cruel Animal Abusers?

It is unclear whether 25 year old Shaun Ferguson stole a crossbreed dog belonging to his neighbour or whether he simply happened across the dog after she had escaped. But it became all to clear to RSPCA Inspector Dierck Beardsley that Ferguson had carried out a frenzied yet motiveless campaign of abuse
on the dog, called Chrissie over a
period of up to four days.

A coal hammer, a dado rail and a broomstick were all found covered in Chrissie’s blood at Ferguson’s home in Wansford Grove, Hull. Chrissie’s owner, Tracy Bainbridge explained to Hull Magistrate’s that she called upon Ferguson whilst she was searching for the missing dog to ask if he had seen her, and he had said that he hadn’t. Hours later he called at Ms. Bainbridge’s home and led her to Chrissie, who he had left in the garden of a vacant house, draped in a union flag.

Ms. Bainbridge explained how her dog had part of her ear missing, was severely injured and was struggling to breathe.

About one week ago I saw briefly on crimewatch the horrific film of a dog who had been tied to a pole and set alight. The picture of the dead dog was shown to let viewers see how brutal the crime was and hopefully try to jog peoples memories.
I was absolutely sick when I saw the body of this poor dog.
Does anyone know if the police got any help on this crime?.
People who commit a crime like thgis should be locked up and the key thrown away.

As a trainee vet nurse/dog trainer/physiologist and animal lover I am amazed that people can do these acts to animals young/old or big/small, these are living breathing feeling animals, and every someone traumatises these poor animals it takes away there trust for the human race.

(we are such a cruel species in some ways)
