at least now defra are asking the public about whether dogs should be insured by law, well they did for 7 days before they just changed their minds!
are the questions on insurance coming out the online questionnaire or should we just leave them ones blank ?

I just read about a dog which was seized from his house, has been to court, ordered registered as he’s a lovely family pet and returned with kennel cough, no vet records, so much for defra guidelines

rspca- photo of a viscious pit bull is terrible, you’re suppose to be there for ALL dogs rspca, that includes ‘pit bulls’ or don’t it matter about them? Stating deed not breed to go with fashion and them supplying photo of lunging dog for a pamplet to enforce the law?

I’m reporting you to the charity commission, for what’s it worth.

Disgusted and you will not see another donation out of me, whilst you turn your back on dogs due to their looks and help turn the dog into the villian

So when thousands are disappearing on enormous kennel bills coupled with general fiasco and dead dog pile up, defra waves it little magic wand to try make it look like the law can work and will now run nice and smooth for all concerned, no need to change it then, big fat BSL mess put right by defra

Great piece. What I would give to see this article in the national papers.

How can anyone in their right mind support a legislation which seizes owners’ pet dogs and kills homeless dogs based on a ‘look’. If it wasn’t so serious you would laugh. It really is crazy and WRONG.

No amount of tinkering can make flawed law work. When all the pit bull ‘types’ are dead or registered, what then? What breed or type will it spread to next.

Good article, got me thinking a lot about this breed ban law.

I don’t know whether my dog would get a ‘pass’ from a dog beaviourist as she is so bouncy and not brillant with her manners but we are improving things, I feel sorry for anyone who has to be singled out and put throught this kind of stress with their dog, like you say it depends on who the behaviourist is and what they think about the dogs etc, their views and experiences, there are some bad ones around I feel who set up after reading a few books. Could be a nice earner I wonder how much the police will pay for the behavioural or whether it is done for free-doubt it. Sam

Defra you need to realise that anything less that a total REPEAL of S1 is a waste of time and an insult to every person who has suffered due to your stupid law and every dog who has died due to it over the last eighteen years, which by now must be THOUSANDS.

This law and your guidelines should be in the trash can.

I can’t believe this law has been about for 18 years (I was two when it was passed) and we’re still stuck with it, how log does it take to get rid of stupid bsl?
