A nationwide search to find the UK’s top veterinary professionals is on. Petplan, the UK’s number one pet insurance provider, is urging all dog lovers to make their nominations for the Petplan Veterinary Awards 2008 now!

Nominations are being sought for four main categories

* Vet of the Year
* Vet Nurse of the Year
* Vet Receptionist of the Year
* Vet Practice of the Year

So, whether it’s the vet team as a whole, or an individual’s outstanding commitment, all veterinary professionals can be recognised.

For the first time, dog lovers can complete a nomination form online by visiting www.petplan.co.uk/vetawards.  In addition, Petplan breeders will have already received a nomination form in the latest Breeder Bonus Statement. Making a nomination is easy. Simply call the Vet Awards hotline on 0845 678 1063, or email vetawards@petplan.co.uk.

Simon Wheeler, head of marketing for Petplan, stresses the importance of getting involved: “What better way of expressing your gratitude and thanks, than by nominating your vet for such a great award. Veterinary professionals up and down the country show great commitment and dedication to our pets on a daily basis, and the Petplan Veterinary Awards will recognise this.”

“The awards are now in their eighth year and we are never disappointed in our quest to discover veterinary staff that go far beyond the call of duty.  Each year we are astonished by the public’s response, with tales ranging from midnight rescues to simple acts of kindness and support.”

Voting will you give your nominee the chance to win a prestigious Petplan Veterinary Awards trophy and a fabulous prize. Also for every nomination received Petplan will give £1 to Petsavers, a charity that funds studies into illnesses and injuries that commonly affect our pets, and enables vets to provide better treatment.

In April 2008, all finalists will be invited to a glittering black-tie ceremony, hailed as the “Veterinary Oscars”, where the winners will be announced.

The closing date for nominations is 15th February 2008
