Crufts Report Sunday March 12th
So here we are, Best in Show day. Tails are-a-wagging, jaws are-a-flapping and thousands of cold noses are in attendance as their owners are eagerly awaiting to discover who’s going to be the big winner on Crufts Sunday. K9 Magazine is delighted to have reported from Crufts on all four days and we’ve had a great time seeing all the dogs doing their collective thing. We’re all out of cash and we’ve seen some extraordinary sights but we arrive today and note a sense of tension in the air. It’s like cup final day, Superbowl Sunday and Grand National day all rolled into one.
We tipped a Terrier to take top honours on Wednesday before a podium had been taken or a gait had been ruled on. But hey, this is K9 Magazine and our knowledge of show dogs is limited to say the least – we’re a pet dog publication remember!
It was bumper to bumper on the way to the NEC today and nose to tail once inside. Immense credit must go to the Kennel Club and NEC staff though for organising such a huge event which has passed off without a hitch.
Dumb and dumber anyone? For those who’ve seen the Jim Carey film this vehicle will seem familiar. It took pride of place on the Nintendogs stand and must have drawn some funny looks on its way to the event.
Having Gundog day on Best in Show day drew some raised eyebrows in some quarters as the Gundog group is easily the most popular amongst Crufts spectators. However, everything worked out as it left only one group needing to be judged and plenty of time for spectators and competitors alike to prepare for the grand finale.
This giant centrepiece was proudly sitting on the RSPCA’s stand and helped them to prominently convey their message that potential dog owners should ‘read the instructions’ before acquiring a new dog. A close contender to win in our Innovative Stand at Crufts award.
