It is still prevalent in the United States and other countries like India. The controls at the borders of the UK are not lax at all and DEFRA is well aware of the situation and monitors it well. The idea that "overseas", of you mean the European continent, is a danger to your dog is totally erroneous. Rabies has virtually been wiped out on the European continent. Wonder what DEFRA and those toffs who wanted to take their dogs to their second homes overseas will say then!
