Superb piece in The Times from Jemima Harrison, maker of Pedigree Dogs Exposed.
The day after Pedigree Dogs Exposed aired last August, I received an anguished email from a senior official at the Kennel Club. It read: “I just hope you will sleep soundly knowing that you have done nothing to progress the health of dogs.”
Others in the dog world were upset, too. We were accused of sensationalism and bias. “Here’s a noose… go hang yourself,” wrote one upset German Shepherd breeder on a dog forum. “If I ever meet you, I will shoot you,” wrote another.
Still others accused of us of withholding medication so that the epileptic boxer featured in the film would have seizures on cue for the camera. I have also been accused of being an animal rights activist – and of being bitter and twisted because I have had three of my own pedigree dogs die prematurely of cancer. None of this is true.
It would seem that despite the bombshell that was the devastating painful to watch but highly powerful Pedigree Dogs Exposed, the Kennel Club has not yet seen fit to take its aim off the messenger and instead focus 100% of its efforts in to making the reforms that can bring such huge advancements to the health of pedigree dogs.
