Ellen Degeneres Battles Over ‘Re-Possessed’ Dog

US talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is caught in the middle of a tug of war that has seen a dog re-possessed by an animal adoption agency.

DeGeneres adopted Brussels Griffon mix from Mutts and Moms but things didn’t work out as the presenter’s cats didn’t get along with the dog. She then found the dog a new home with her hairdresser who was able to offer a cat free living environment.

However, a rep from Mutts and Moms visited the home of DeGeneres’ hairdresser claiming a violation of the contract as the chat show host had not informed the agency about the dog’s move. The rep demanded to take the dog away.

Ms DeGeneres is said to be struggling to deal with the situation and broke down in tears on her own show.

She believes she did breach the contract but assumed she was doing the right thing in finding the dog a new, loving home.

“I kept saying, ‘If you want to be mad at me, be mad at me, but don’t take it out on the family. Don’t take it out on the dog.’”

The children of the family who have just seen the dog re-possessed are known to be distressed and upset.

What do you think? Who’s in the right in this sad situation – comment below:

Mutts and Moms should be ashamed of themselves. They could have gone into the home and interviewed the new owners. They DID NOT handle this right and I hope they get the message!!!

Ellen should have read the paperwork! Obviously, this will be terrible publicity for Mutts and Moms, but most rescue organizations are very tied up with their rules and what they believe is best for the pets they take in. Mutts and Moms should have said no cats, and Ellen should have contacted them when there was a problem.
We have recently adopted a rescue dog. They are rescue dogs for a reason! Our dog is generally great but goes absolutely nuts around other dogs; did the rescue folks tell us this? No. It’s possible M&M didn’t know the dog didn’t like cats, but it’s possible they thought the problem would work itself out if she “trained him properly.” We have a cat, and he and the dog pretty much get along, but if it were an either/or situation, the cat was here first.
Perhaps Ellen could have contacted M&M and introduced her hairdresser’s family to be checked out as a potential adoptive family. The rescue organizations see the dogs as family members and a lot of adopters see them as property. Would you adopt a child from an orphanage and give him to your friend’s family if it didn’t work out? If you did, DCS would probably be called.
It’s a matter of perspective, and people who adopt animals from rescues need to know how they see the dogs in their care.

Mutts & Moms needs to do a reality check. Elen is well known for being a “pro animal rights” kind of person, so it is quite unlikley that she would give Iggy to anyone who wouldn’t love and care for him properly. Due to their lack of intelegnce, Mutts & Moms have cut their own throats as a “Rescue” organization, and it’s the animals who will now have to pay the price. If Mutts & Moms wish to continue as a Rescue Organization, they should rid themselves of whoever made this bad call and ask Elen for time on her show so that they can GIVE the dog back to the girls, while doing any interviews and checks, on their own dime. Otherwise, pack up your stuff, because you’re through as an Animal Rescue, contract or not.
