i have to agree with you.

most dogs that attack HAVE show aggression before, but some people are in completly in denial. i had an exstremely aggressive black lab, charge me, snarling and growling at me as soon as it saw me.

the owner then came over and said it was PLAYING and refused to believe otherwise! playing, i have lived with dogs all my life and i have NEVER being afaird of a dog untill then! i have have lived from rescue dogs with behavioural problems!

every time i see that dog, its running round OFF LEASH and NO MUZZLE. people walk with their children their! that dog is going to kill someone, and the owner will STILL denial.

I think it is extremely rare that adog that has attacked to the degree of causing a human's death; has NEVER shown aggression before. Owners will often deny their dog ever displayed aggression. Theuy could be in denial. They could simply be ignorant of canine body language that expresses aggression. They could be apologists; alway excusing the lesser incidences of aggression as someone else is to blame. Or they could simply be lying.

As for the rest of the article; I'm in agreement.

Research into the circumstances & study of the dog(s) involved by behaviourists working alongside the authorities, to help understand what the facts are should be routine. But all the information we are ever left with is news reports and guess work "this might have triggered that" is not good enough.

Let the professionals study and learn and then we try to get this information out there for everyone,
