If the Mars test is so good at discovering what crossbreeds are perhaps they would submit it to the ultimate test. Take 10 of every breed shown at next year’s Crufts (that’ll be about 1800 dogs) and submit them to an independent test in scientific conditions i.e. numbers not breeds written on the test tube. They should come up with answers which place the dog in its correct breed (where tests don’t identify the corerct breed the dogs owners can be asked to withdraw from the show). If they can get this right (on identifiable breeds) they have some right to dupe mongrel owners to part with the cash for the test to identify the breeds in a mix. It would also go some way to solving the problems of pedigree fraud etc. and I might believe they were on to something reallly useful.
