A Dalmatian has given birth to a record breaking litter of 18 puppies in Leicestershire, East Midlands.

The litter’s mother, called ‘Button’ is doing well but receiving assistance with feeding the giant litter from her owners.

Button, who is the daughter of one of the dogs that starred Disney’s 101 Dalmatians remake, is getting a little help with feeding her offspring from her owners.

I read about this elsewhere and was disappointed to read they had bred a litter only a year earlier of 16 puppies. It would have been better to give the mum a longer rest. Also are all these puppies being tested for deafness before being sold to the new homes all this publicity will no doubt get them

    poor dog
fancy letting this girl have two litters and its only 3
are they health tested, does the owners show ,
why breed a litter, for what purpose
no doubt the publicity will sell the pups
and yet again other people seeing this will do the same and
poor rescue will pick up the pieces
about time this country brought in breeding licences for all who
    want to breed

Hello M Appleton : ) You have been busy on many forums across the internet. Please allow me to respond.

Button is a strong, healthy and extremely well cared for Dalmatian. She was vet checked before having her latest litter of pups. No one, least of all us, expected her to have a litter of 18. She was only ever going to have 2 litters.

All the puppies are vet checked 3 times before leaving us. They are hearing tested, DNA profiled and have every care lavished upon them. We keep in touch with ALL of our puppies and see most of them frequently.

The publicity has not affected the placing of our pups. We do thing very thoroughly and all pups have homes. The final measure of our commitment is that we always offer to have the pups back if there are problems. We have not had one back because they are so well prepared and socialized by us.

    Thanks

Thanks for that clarification. I wish you and the gorgeous Button well. I adore Dallies but their health problems make them too much of a risk for me. But I am glad to hear of your breeding practices although I understand why a litter of 18 is not thought by everyone to be a cause for celebration – it must have been tough for her and the pups – and you of course.
