Becca Meaton, who has been with the charity since 2003, has now been appointed as Training Teams Manager.  She will be joined by new recruits Ann Fennell and Gemma Palmer, who will complete the team of seven hoping to take assistance dog training to the next level.

Becca Meaton joined the charity as Assistant Trainer and previously studied Applied Health Studies at University in York, as well as working as a Veterinary Assistant. Talking about her new role, Becca comments “Now that I’ve been with Canine Partners for over four years, I feel that my promotion to the post of Training Teams Manager is a marvellous opportunity to build on the strength of the current team. I’m constantly inspired by the success of our partnerships – both the determination of the partners; and the enthusiasm and ability of the dogs.

Together we are developing news ideas and strategies to enable us place even more Canine Partners.”  Ann Fennell studied Animal Behaviour BSc at Chester University and states, “I have always had a keen interest in assistance dogs.  I think the work they achieve is invaluable for promoting the independence of people with disabilities and it’s equally great to see the dogs enjoying the work they do!

Gemma Palmer studied Psychology BSc and Applied Animal Behaviour MSc at the University of Exeter.  Talking of her role, Gemma says “I am thoroughly enjoying my work as it combines my two passions, enabling people with disabilities to have more independence and canine training  – my ideal job!”
