I've seen it happen many many times where there wasn't any other logical explanation to fit the situation. My dogs get jealous! They are both jealous if we pay too much attention to the cat. Also if one dog gets on my lap, the other either finds someone else to pet her, or she tries to get on my lap. And in response to guilt. Well, if I come home and there are no dogs to greet me, I know they did something wrong and they are both under my bed. Sometimes I can't even find what they think they did. My dog will cease to do an action if she thinks that there is no reward, regardless of whether another dog is present or not. It doesn't prove anything.
