could vets help with some form of ownership club and ask their patients owners would they be willing to long term foster another pet or to adopt another pet, 9f as you state there are so many being put down could we owners not all get together and try to get some kind of ban on overbreeding, most breeders don`t do it for love of pets but for the money involved. how about a a large bank of peoples names who would be willing to take on another pet also if there could be displayed a letter or notice informing the elderly that there are alternatives. I myself have made provision for my 2 dogs to go to dogs trust in the event of my death

This is a shame. People shouldn't have to choose between a nursing home and a beloved pet. The fact that so many healthy animals are euthanized because of this just makes it worse.
