Dog Walkers Urged to Get Fit for Fido

Dogs Trust Snetterton is challenging dog-loving members of the public to take part in a Boxing Day dog walk across the Norfolk countryside to raise vital funds for the centre.

Manager of Dogs Trust Snetterton, Diane McLelland-Taylor, explains: “The sponsored walk is always really good fun and well-attended by local residents. This is a good excuse to burn off all those Christmas excess calories. More importantly, the event is invaluable as it raises vital funds for the upkeep of strays and abandoned dogs. It would be great if we could beat last year’s record turn-out and raise £5,000.”

The four and a half mile walk will begin at 10.30am at Dogs Trust Snetterton situated on North End Road, Snetterton. The fundraising event is open to dog as well as non-dog owners. Those who do not have a dog of their own will be paired up with one of the centre’s canine residents.

The route will take walkers through the picturesque surroundings of the Norfolk countryside including Shropham village. Once they return to the centre, walkers will be served with refreshments to warm them up. All participants will also receive a Certificate of Thanks for their fundraising efforts.

During the walk dog walkers can also come and meet Freddie, Snetterton’s permanent canine resident and sponsor dog, a four year-old Pointer cross. Freddie has been at the centre for two years and will be leading the pack during the walk, sniffing out mince pies along the way!
