Months on from the airing of Pedigree Dogs Exposed and the fall out is still, well, falling out.
Yesterday the British Veterinary Association announced that ‘too little has been done’ on the issue of pedigree dog health and today the leading veterinary charity the PDSA followed the lead of the RSPCA, the Dogs Trust, the National Dog Warden Association, Pedigree and Hills in withdrawing from Crufts.
The BBC, however, has remained silent despite telling us their advisory panel would be ‘quickly’ providing their feedback on whether the corporation would continue to broadcast Crufts dog show:
This statement came on September the 16th. And whilst it is in nobody’s interest to rush things, it is a concern that – to date – the BBC, despite our numerous requests, has refused to disclose who is serving on this ‘advisory panel’. It’s a concern because the BBC is publicly funded. It’s a concern because – one would assume – the public has a right to know who it is and what their credentials are of the people who are advising the British Broadcasting Corporation on this highly sensitive canine health related issue.
So one question, why don’t you tell us who’s on the panel BBC?
