A grey female lurcher’s body has been found in some woodland in Rhondda, Wales.

The dog is believed to have been shot at close range and initial reports suggest the dog was lead to its place of execution as a string was attached to its collar.

Initial vet reports have suggested the dog was shot at close range due to the nature of the wounds sustained.

The RSPCA is appealing for information:

Inspector Simon Evans:: “Initial veterinary reports suggest that the dog was shot at close range but we are still trying to establish the type of firearm used.

“We urgently need more information regarding this incident and I would urge anyone who saw something or heard the sound of gun fire in this area to get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the RSPCA on 0300 1234 999.
