In issue 21 of K9 Magazine we opened the floor to an assembly of dog trainers, pet care professionals, novice and experienced dog owners to discuss the highly controversial subject of punishing a dog within the context of their regular training program.

naughtyboy.jpgDespite the wide variety of different dog training methods promoted and discussed today, it would appear a general concensus has never been reached on the prickly issue of canine punishment.

Some trainers argue that ‘no reward is punishment’ whilst others prefer to utilise modern technology in the form of the much maligned electric dog collar.

One this is for certain, the issue of how, why and when to punish a dog makes for very interesting reading.

    As a dog trainer the majority of mistakes made by owners is that they repremand their dog at the wrong time and with incorrect energy.
