The Yorkshire Terrier cross pup ( thought to be 3-6 months old) was found straying in Chessington, Surrey, on the afternoon on 8 October 2008 with a plastic pull tie around her neck which had dug into her flesh.

Her neck measured 24cm the tie – measured once cut off – was 18.5 cm. The puppy was well fed but flea ridden. She was picked up by the Kingston dog warden and is being cared for by Battersea Dogs & Cats
Home, where staff have named her Kim.

RSPCA inspector Liz Wheeler, who is investigating, said:

“We do not know whether this puppy was abandoned or whether she was straying but either way we are keen to trace her owner and speak to them about her neck wound. “I would urge anybody with information about this puppy to contact the RSPCA so we can ensure no other animals are suffering in this way.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the RSPCA cruelty and information line on 0300 123 8104 and leave a message for inspector Wheeler. Calls are in strictest confidence.

Kim’s neck wound is healing and she is receiving twice daily check-ups by one of the Home’s resident veterinary nurses. Despite her injuries Kim is a playful pup, good with other dogs and is expected to make a full recovery and be available for rehoming in a few weeks time.

Anyone interested in offering Kim a home should call Battersea Dogs & Cats Home on 020 7627 9234 quoting reference number 08/5413.
